Fonds consists of correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, lecture notes, newsletters, cards and party invitations, exhibition catalogues, reproductions of art works, passport, certificates, and photographs relating to L.A.C. Panton’s personal and professional life. The photographs range from portraits of his family in England to scenes that provided the basis of paintings, particularly the Nova Scotia coastline. Correspondence relates to his involvement in art societies and his community in North Toronto but does not include his family life. Letters were received from several members of the Group of Seven, Florence Wyle, Arthur Heming, Fred Brigden, G.A. Reid and many others. Clipping files relate both to his professional life and his interest in economics and current events. The fonds arrived at the archives in no discernible order; order has been imposed by the archivist to correspond as much as possible to a file listing found in the fonds. Fonds consists of records relating to the life and work of the artist and author Charles William Jefferys. It includes the artist’s correspondence, notebooks, research materials and manuscripts of his written work. Also included in this fonds are the research materials compiled by Robert Stacey, the artist’s grandson, about all aspects of the life and work of Jefferys, including information on all Jefferys’ writings and art, articles and reviews published by and about Jefferys, as well as information about the artist’s personal life, professional activities and travels. Stacey also conducted research on the Jefferys family history. Fonds consists chiefly of correspondence received by Harold Murchison Tovell, Ruth Massey Tovell and Vincent Tovell, most notably from their friends the French artist Jacques Villon and his wife Gaby from 1928 to 1962. Other correspondence concerns the lending and donation of family artworks. Also included are catalogues for exhibitions of the works of Jacques Villon and his brother Raymond Duchamp-Villon as well as inventories and photographs of Tovell family artworks and furnishings. Collection consists of 15 letters written from Carl Schaefer to Jack Martin, with illustrated envelopes by Schaefer. Techniques include ink and watercolour drawing, with collage elements on paper. The collection is arranged chronologically in a single series.

The collection consists of research material gathered by Judith Rodger in the course of her work on the catalogue for the Art Gallery of Ontario exhibition Greg Curnoe: Life and Stuff. Collection includes audio recordings of Curnoe, published articles, photographs, ephemera, and eulogies for Curnoe. Sources for individual items include Jack Behrens, Glen Curnoe, Tony McAulay, and Brenda Wallace.

Fonds consists chiefly of correspondence to Edmund Morris as an artist and as secretary of the Canadian Art Club, Toronto (extant 1907-1915). Materials relating to the art club were received predominantly between 1906 and 1913 and deal with the membership of the club, with artworks and with art publications. Correspondents include artists Peleg Franklin Brownell, Edmond Dyonnet, Clarence Gagnon, James Kerr-Lawson, Ernest Lawson, James Wilson Morrice, Alexander Phimister Proctor, Marc-Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Côté, Horatio Walker, Homer Ransford Watson and poet Duncan Campbell Scott. Also included are letters written by Edmund Morris himself and a few received by other members of the art club. The approximately 800 items were originally in two letter-binders. Although most of the items are letters, the fonds also comprises exhibition notices, invitations, newspaper and journal articles, lists of artists and artworks, price lists, illustrations, prospectuses, lists of subscribers for memorials (etc.), invoices, as well as miscellaneous items such as visiting cards, envelopes, an abstract of land title, a telegram and a cancelled cheque.

The fonds consists of personal and professional correspondence, exhibition and projects files, exhibition catalogues, newspaper articles and reviews of Tim Zuck’s work, multimedia records including art related photographs, films, audio cassette tapes, conceptual art projects, exhibition notices, financial records, and publications.

Collection consists of the research files kept by Doris McCarthy and Lora Carney, including exhibition notices, press releases and invitations, photocopied articles, hand-written sheets containing references and notes, a few slides and photographs, some personal correspondence, 2 theses, and a binder of copied material relating to Ann Davis’ book on Christiane Pflug. The Rae Simone file contains 12 black & white photographs, the Carolyne Dukes file contains 10 slides, and the Marian Scott file contains a signed letter and transcript of an interview with Doris McCarthy. The files were kept for the purpose of publishing a book on Canadian women artists and cover artists from across the country from the 19th century to the early 21st century. There are files on a few male artists integrated into the sequence, added by Prof. Carney. Exhibition catalogues have been removed and integrated into the library collection. A list of these catalogues is available. A list of the original file names is also available. The collection is arranged in a single series by artists’ last names, preceded by a few geographical files, arranged by province. Files containing only one or two records have been combined by the archivist in a ‘miscellaneous’ file for each letter of the alphabet.
