Series consists of materials related to Workscene Gallery’s publications including copies of Work Seen magazine and a related report; copies of Artword Artists Forum magazine; grant applications and reports related to The Order of Things: An International Fax Project as well as a copy of the catalogue; ISBN applications and related correspondence.

Financial records

Series consists of financial receipts, invoices, income tax returns, and related correspondence, including art sales records from Nancy Poole’s Studio. Records have been arranged chronologically by the creator.

Photographic documentation of Photo Passage exhibitions

Series comprises photographs of selected exhibition installations at the Photo Passage gallery space. Photographs are credited to John Scully, except for those of the Hlynsky and Mitchell exhibitions, which were taken by Henry Jablonski. For each exhibition, the first sheet of slides consists of images selected by Pamela Harris, while following sheets contain the remainder of images of that show.

Series consists of files pertaining to Greg Curnoe maintained by Sheila Curnoe following the artist’s death. Series includes letters and telegrams of condolence from friends and colleagues, tributes, etc.

Administration files

Series comprises material related to running the gallery and includes legal documents, leases, ANNPAC information, corporate seal and address stamp, floor plans, promotional material, art rental information, gallery log books, gallery attendant’s manual, grants related to administration, and membership information. Arrangement is alphabetical by file title with the exception of the corporate seal and address stamp which are housed separately in the final box of the series.

Research files

Series comprises of research material compiled by Ron Graham in preparation for the biographical essay “Twenty-Four Sketches for a Portrait of Paterson Ewen.” The essay was published in the catalogue for the Art Gallery of Ontario exhibition Paterson Ewen: Earthly Weather/Heavenly Skies, ed. by Matthew Teitelbaum and co-published by the AGO and Douglas & McIntyre in 1996. Series consists of photographs and photocopies of photographs, interview transcripts, essays, newspaper articles, exhibition related files, and other miscellaneous research material.

Members and associate members files

Series consists of artists’ CVs, artist statements, photographs and slides of the artists’ work, exhibition invitations, pamphlets and catalogues and published material about the artists from other sources, press releases and reviews who were members or associate members of the organization. Individual files contain some or all of these; the presence of slides or photographs is noted. Arrangement is alphabetical by artist name with the members followed by the associate members as indicated in the file titles.

Workscene Gallery

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by the executive of the gallery. Copies or drafts of correspondence sent include responses to applications for membership, confirmation of gallery rental, letters of support, and correspondence to members about the transfer of the Workscene Gallery records to the E.P. Taylor Research Library & Archives, Art Gallery of Ontario. Correspondence received includes membership requests, resignations or withdrawals from the collective and applications for employment. Individual files contain some or all of these. There was no correspondence in the series for 1995.

David Moos’ records

Series comprises records from the Gallery Moos New York office that document David Moos’ academic and professional careers in the late 1980s and 1990s. Records include curricula vitae; applications to universities, fellowships and positions; correspondence; academic essays as well as essays, reviews and proposals written in a professional capacity including his collaborations with Rainer Crone and sample of the work of other fiction writers. .

Series 7: Arctic material

Series comprises records related to the Arctic, including correspondence, writings, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, Inuit Art Conference notes, book proposal documentation, willow herb specimens, artwork documentation, landscape sketches, and drawings by Inuit and of Inuit at Toonik Time, Cape Dorset 1973.
