Publications

Series consists of materials related to Workscene Gallery’s publications including copies of Work Seen magazine and a related report; copies of Artword Artists Forum magazine; grant applications and reports related to The Order of Things: An International Fax Project as well as a copy of the catalogue; ISBN applications and related correspondence.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by the executive of the gallery. Copies or drafts of correspondence sent include responses to applications for membership, confirmation of gallery rental, letters of support, and correspondence to members about the transfer of the Workscene Gallery records to the E.P. Taylor Research Library & Archives, Art Gallery of Ontario. Correspondence received includes membership requests, resignations or withdrawals from the collective and applications for employment. Individual files contain some or all of these. There was no correspondence in the series for 1995.

Publicity material

Series consists of press clippings about Iskowitz’s career, and a portfolio of promotional material from Canada’s pavilion at the Venice Biennale, 1972, featuring images of Iskowitz and his work. Series also includes a laminated offprint from Art in America, 1983.

Photography community mobilization records

Series comprises documentation of advocacy campaigns around three separate crises affecting the Canadian documentary photography community, in which Pamela Harris was involved in an organizing capacity. These records are not directly related to Photo Eclipse, but they involve many of the same people and are centred around the issue of public funding and support for documentary photography in Canada.

Research files

This series is comprised of research material on subjects Robert Fones found inspirational and/or influenced his artistic endeavours over the course of his lifetime. These include files on different artistic processes, tools and equipment as well as family history, his grade school and high school records, and his travels. It also includes files on artists and other individuals who greatly influenced his career and/or with whom he had close personal/professional ties, as well as on individual works of art, graphic design, typeface design and other subjects he explored in his work. It includes draft copies of artist talks he has given over the years are included, as well as portraits of him taken by Arnaud Maggs for the 1999 Toronto Arts Awards.
