The collection consists of newspaper articles, reproductions, illustrations, exhibition notices and invitations, death notices, photographs and biographical notes on 112 Canadian artists (birthdates 1803 to 1915) and four arts organizations: Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, Ontario Society of Artists, Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and Toronto Art Students’ League.

Fonds consists of Michael Snow’s correspondence with family, other artists, musicians, filmmakers, dealers and curators; sketchbooks, art portfolios and sound recordings of the artist’s work; photo-documentation and other materials related to his artworks, publications, music and films; financial and legal records; reviews and other writings about the artist; posters and promotional material from exhibitions. Fonds consists of the administrative files created by the Mercer Union gallery during the first twenty years of its existence, including photographs and slides, material printed for the gallery (catalogues, posters, invitations etc.), newspaper reviews, and a small number of video tapes, audio tapes and computer disks. Files remain in the order they were received; errors in filing have not been corrected. Fonds consists of two scrapbooks containing material created and collected throughout George Reid’s life and were compiled by him in the late 1930’s. Volume I, 500 pages, contains photographs and notes on the Reid family; drawings, sketches, etc., as well as press clippings and exhibition catalogues relating to works of art by Reid and his first wife, Mary Hiester Reid. The 131 pages of Volume II are devoted to designs for buildings and their interior fittings, including summer homes and a church at Onteora, New York, houses in Wychwood Park (Toronto) including the Reid house, and Ontario College of Art designs. Materials include drawings in pencil, pastel and ink, watercolour sketches, small oil paintings, blueprints, photographs, postcards, letters, texts of speeches, letters, awards and material clipped from magazines and newspapers.

Fonds consists of correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, lecture notes, newsletters, cards and party invitations, exhibition catalogues, reproductions of art works, passport, certificates, and photographs relating to L.A.C. Panton’s personal and professional life. The photographs range from portraits of his family in England to scenes that provided the basis of paintings, particularly the Nova Scotia coastline. Correspondence relates to his involvement in art societies and his community in North Toronto but does not include his family life. Letters were received from several members of the Group of Seven, Florence Wyle, Arthur Heming, Fred Brigden, G.A. Reid and many others. Clipping files relate both to his professional life and his interest in economics and current events. The fonds arrived at the archives in no discernible order; order has been imposed by the archivist to correspond as much as possible to a file listing found in the fonds. Fonds consists of records relating to the life and work of the artist and author Charles William Jefferys. It includes the artist’s correspondence, notebooks, research materials and manuscripts of his written work. Also included in this fonds are the research materials compiled by Robert Stacey, the artist’s grandson, about all aspects of the life and work of Jefferys, including information on all Jefferys’ writings and art, articles and reviews published by and about Jefferys, as well as information about the artist’s personal life, professional activities and travels. Stacey also conducted research on the Jefferys family history. Fonds consists of the personal and professional records of Greg Curnoe. It includes such textual documentation as writing files; correspondence; project files including grant applications, records of the National Gallery retrospective exhibition, and Curnoe’s published writings; notebooks and journals kept by the artist, including his cycling journals; and a number of bookworks. Visual material includes numerous sketchbooks and works on paper as well as extensive photographic documentation of Curnoe’s studio, social and professional activities, exhibitions, family life, and art work. Also included are printing blocks and rubber stamps used in Curnoe’s art making. The fonds contains audio and audiovisual material which records important events and ideas in Curnoe’s life. The fonds includes two pop culture collections relating closely to Curnoe’s art practice: his collection of buttons and his collection of regional pop bottles. The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, minutes, and other materials relating to the administrative activities of the Society. It also contains photograph albums documenting the travels of the MPDSO to various European and North American destinations, 1987-1999. Collection consists of a series of recorded interviews gathered or commissioned by Ann Davis in the course of her research for her biographical work Somewhere Waiting: The Life and Art of Christiane Pflug. Several interviews were conducted by Ann Davis’ assistant, Elizabeth Schwaiger, who is a professional translator. The subjects of the interviews are people with whom Christiane had contact with throughout her life. For the most part, the interviews focus on the interviewees’ relationship to Christiane and/or her family. The collection also contains older recordings with the voice of Christiane herself.
