Varley from his sisters Lilian Varley (1875–1957) and Ethel Varley (1879–1970) of Sheffield (England), and from his children. Also included is correspondence from his grandchildren and from various correspondents seeking information about family connections along with a letter (fragment) from Varley to his mother. Contents include letters and greeting cards.

The materials were received by the AGO from Gallery Moos in 2004 and 2012. The 2012 accrual comprises copies of letters sent from Walter Moos, gallery director Gerard Jennings and other gallery staff as well as letters received from clients, other dealers and galleries chiefly regarding purchases of artwork, requests to publish or exhibit works by gallery artists.
