Scope and content

Series contains correspondence between the AIO and various film associations due to the Institute’s growing interest in art films. It also includes documents on film-related events in Ontario, catalogues, and records from the Art Gallery of Toronto concerning its slide-lending services and own interest in showcasing films.

The AIO first included films into their programme in December 1964. In February 1966, Paul Bennett helped form the Ontario Federation for Films on Art (originally the Ontario Association for Films on Art), which served to promote the acquisition and use of films, and to press for the inclusion of more material on art and artists on Canadian television.
